INDUCTED INTO OHIO UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
GIFTED EDUCATION HALL OF FAME

ATHENS,
Ohio -- Six new inductees will be added to the Ohio
University College
of Education
Gifted education Hall of Fame. The induction ceremonies will
take place at a banquet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18th at
the Athens Country Club, Route #56 West. James Heap, Dean of
the Ohio University College of Education, will be the
keynote speaker at the banquet. His topic for the evening
will be "Challenges in Education." The banquet is open to
the public. Tickets are $15.00 per person and can be
purchased until May 12th. for more information and to

The
following educators will be honored:
GARY
DUNFEE --
Science
teacher and Science Olympiad coach for over 10 years at
Alexander High School.
LYNN
LOUCKS -- TAG (Talented and Gifted) coordinator to Lake and
Geauga Counties for over 11 years, served on the State
Superintendent's Committee to develop guidelines for Gifted
Education in Ohio and in U.S. Office of Education with
Dorothy Sisk.
RENE OLSON
-- Athens High School teacher and sculpture instructor in
Ohio University Governor's Scholars Program.
RAY
SKINNER -- Director of Governor's Scholars for 14 years,
director of Ohio Junior Science and Humanities symposium for
10 years, director of regional Science Olympiad for four
years and sponsor of the Ohio University College of
Education Gifted Education Hall of Fame for three
years.
BOBBI
SMITH -- Art teacher and founder of National Art Honor
Society at Logan High School, current president of OAEA
(Ohio Art Education Association).
JUDY SPAHR
-- Gifted teacher for 18 years, gifted coordinator for three
years and Future Problem Solving coach at Marietta
Schools.
The
criteria for selection into the Gifted Education Hall of
Fame is as follows: Nominees must be graduates of Ohio
University or have taken course work at Ohio University,
nominees must have made a worthwhile contribution to Gifted
Education as defined in the broadcast sense and nominees
must have worked in the area of Gifted Education for more
than five years.
