THREE NAMED
OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATORS AT OHIO
UNIVERSITY

ATHENS,
Ohio -- Three administrators were honored for distinguished
service to Ohio University during a ceremony Monday where
they were presented with the 1998-99 Outstanding
Administrator Awards.
This
year's recipients are Lora Munsell, director of degree
programs at University
College;
Dave Puzzuoli, director of the Office of Professional and
Corporate Services on the Eastern
Campus;
and Ralph Six, maintenance supply buyer. Each will receive
$1,000 for professional interests. Vice President for
Administration Gary North presented the awards at the Baker
Center ceremony.
There were
37 nominees for the awards sponsored by the university's
Administrative
Senate.
Selection was made by a nine-member committee chaired by
Judy Burke, project manager for Administrative
Systems.
The Senate
also commended 100 administrators for service, ranging from
10 to 30 years, and recognized eight others on their
retirement. Retirees honored include James Bryant,
vice-president for Regional Higher Education, 32 years;
Stephen Malone, applications programming specialist in the
Administrative Systems Computer Service Center, 30 years;
Bruce Morgan, director of electric operations and energy, 31
years; Gene Reed, director of food
service,
30 years; Rudy Rodgers, systems support specialist in
Computer
Services,
31 years; Betty Simon, associate director of
housing,
30 years; Tish Wagner, assistant director of operations in
the Office
of Admissions,
30 years; and Randy Welch, manager of Stores Receiving, 33
years.
Munsell
has worked for University College since August 1986, where
she began as a counselor before taking her current position
in July 1998. She was praised for her ability to connect
with students she advises and for her efforts with students
who are particularly in need of guidance.
Puzzuoli
has been director of the Office of Professional Corporate
Services at Eastern Campus since July 1989. He was praised
for his creation of several programs, including an
internationally recognized summer program for gifted
children, a forum to encourage collaboration among
education, business and industry and a program to enhance
Belmont County teachers' knowledge of marine biology,
oceanography, geology and tropical plant botany.
Six, who
has been working in purchasing
since January 1986, was praised for his attention to the
ideals of the university in executing his responsibilities,
which include purchasing a variety of items to overseeing
large building and renovation contracts.
