The Ohio University Department of Physics and Astronomy will open its telescopes to the public this Thursday, January 20, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight for viewing of the total lunar eclipse. The telescopes will be on the roof of the Research and Technology Center, located at the end of Richland Avenue (at President Street).
Participants will be able to see the surface of the moon lit by all of the sunsets and sunrises on Earth. The planets Jupiter and Saturn also will be visible. Local astronomers will be on hand to answer questions.
No reservations are necessary and the event is free. For additional information, call the department at 593-1718.
