ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University classes scheduled at Elson Hall on the Zanesville campus this week will meet in the Muskingum Area Technical College buildings.
Elson Hall was closed about 5 p.m. Saturday after asbestos was detected in the air during a construction project.
Asbestos was being removed from the building when an independent contractor monitoring the project detected asbestos in the air, said Steve Flaherty, associate vice president for regional higher education.
Additional tests will be conducted this week under the guidance of the university's Department of Environmental Health and Safety. Classes are expected to resume in Elson Hall next week, Flaherty said.
