'Chance
and Necessity' to Open at Kennedy Museum

"Chance
and Necessity," an exhibition featuring
non-objective abstract painting from the
Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area, will open
today at the Kennedy
Museum of
Art
at The Ridges.
The
exhibition, which will be on view through
August 22, is curated by Power Boothe,
director of the Ohio University
School
of Art.
The show has been exhibited at four venues
in Maryland and Virginia including the
Maryland Art Place, Baltimore, where the
exhibition originated.
Artists
included in "Chance and Necessity" have
exhibited nationally as well as in the
Baltimore-Washington area. The artists
include: Barbara Allen, Timothy App, Paula
Crawford, Steven Cushner, Carol Miller
Frost, Sam Gilliam, Tom Green, Don Kimes,
Jae Ko, Ann Rentschler, W.C. Richardson,
Scott Thorp, Michael Weiss, and William
Willis.
The
Friends of the Kennedy Museum will host a
gallery talk by Power Boothe on July 15 at
4 p.m. at the Kennedy Museum. A reception
will follow. The lecture and reception are
free and open to the public.
In
addition, the exhibition "Passion Works"
will be on exhibit through September
5.
Gallery
hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
from noon to 5 p.m.; Thursday from noon to
8 p.m.; and weekends from 1 to 5 p.m.
