Introduced
Two
new Cutler
Scholars
were introduced today. Abigail Gilkey of
Chagrin Falls, and Patricia Bell of Shaker
Heights are the recipients of the
1999-2000 Jeanette Grasselli
Brown-Manasseh Cutler Scholars Award. Bell
and Gilkey are two of 21 Cutler Scholars
who will begin study on Ohio University's
Athens campus this fall.
Each
award provides full tuition and room and
board, plus a stipend to cover structured
summer internships and study or work
abroad for four years.
Gilkey
is a senior at Chagrin Falls High School.
She is a member of the National Honor
Society, president of the Principal's
Advisory Council, and earned varsity
letters in three sports.
Bell
is a senior at Shaker Heights High School.
Her extracurricular activities include
marching and concert band, and Take
Action, a mentoring program that pairs
high school students with second and third
grader which she co-founded.
The
Cutler Scholars program is modeled after
the Rhodes Scholar program originated by
Oxford University. Students selected for
this program must demonstrate high
