University Wins National Honors for Design
Project and Research
Writing
Ohio
University received national honors for a
campus design project, research and
science writing, and a series of articles
on pain in the annual Circle of Excellence
competition sponsored by the Council for
Advancement and Support of
Education.
University
Publications
won a gold medal in the Individual
In-House Publications category for the
design of hang tags used by the
Department
of Facilities
Management.
Judges received 156 entries in this
category and presented three gold medals,
nine silver and three bronze.
Also
recognized was a series of articles on
faculty research on pain, "A World of
Hurt," published in the Autumn/Winter 1998
issue of Perspectives,
the university's biannual magazine of
research and creative activity. Judges at
The Chronicle of Higher Education
gave awards to 12 articles from a pool of
267 entries in this category.
The
university also received a bronze medal in
the category for Excellence in News
Writing - Research, Medicine and Science
Writing. The only other award presented in
this category was a silver medal to the
University of Colorado at Boulder.
