New Cutler Scholar from Meigs High School

Jessica R. Johnson of Middleport is the recipient of the 1999-2000 Dr. James H. and Nellie Rowley Jewell-Manasseh Cutler Scholars Award. Johnson is one of 21 Cutler Scholars who will begin study on Ohio University's Athens campus this fall.

Each award provides full tuition and room and board, plus a stipend to cover structured summer internships and study or work abroad for four years.

Johnson is a senior from Meigs High School in Pomeroy. She is a member of the National Honor Society, plays with the marching and concert bands, and earned varsity letters in cross country and track. She also spent her senior year as a post-secondary options student at Rio Grande University.

Cutler Scholars can enroll in any degree program and receive annual stipends to support four years of study, including summer programs. Individual students cannot apply for the Cutler Scholars program. Potential Cutler Scholars are nominated by personnel at eligible secondary schools, or by members of active Ohio University alumni chapters.
