Men's
Basketball Signs Anthony Jones for
1999-2000 Season
Ohio
University Head Men's Basketball
Coach Larry Hunter announced that Anthony
Jones has signed a national
letter-of-intent to attend Ohio and play
basketball next fall. Jones is a 6-4,
210-pounder who played at Garden City
(Kan.) Community College last season. He
averaged 15.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in
34 games for the Broncbusters and helped
the team to a 23-11 overall record and a
10-6 league mark. Garden City advanced to
the championship game of the Kansas
Jayhawk Conference Postseason
Tournament.
Jones,
an Austin, Texas, native, played his first
year of basketball at Temple Junior
College in Temple, Texas, where he
averaged 13.5 points and five rebounds. He
started his collegiate career at Trinity
Valley Community College in Athens, Texas,
where he played wide receiver on the
football team as a freshman. He will have
two seasons of eligibility at Ohio
beginning next fall.
