Southeast Ohio Magazine Wins Award

Ohio University's Southeast Ohio Magazine was named the regional first place winner of the 1999 Mark of Excellence Award for a magazine published more than once a year, by the Society of Professional Journalists.

The Mark of Excellence Awards honor the work of college student journalists in news writing, magazine writing, broadcast journalism, and photo journalism.

After beating out magazines from colleges in Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania, Southeast Ohio is eligible to compete for the national Mark of Excellence award. The award will be given at the association's national convention October 3-5 in Indianapolis.

• COM 2K: Communication for the New Millennium is the theme of this year's Communication Week. It began April 25 and runs through April 30. Today is Communication Systems Management Day. A complete listing of events is available at the Web site.
