Ohio Magazine Wins Award
Ohio University's Southeast
Ohio Magazine was named the regional first place
winner of the 1999 Mark of Excellence Award for a magazine published
more than once a year, by the Society of Professional
Journalists.
The Mark of Excellence Awards honor the work of college student
journalists in news writing, magazine writing, broadcast journalism,
and photo journalism.
After beating out magazines from colleges in Ohio, Michigan, West
Virginia and western Pennsylvania, Southeast Ohio is eligible
to compete for the national Mark of Excellence award. The award will
be given at the association's national convention October 3-5 in
Indianapolis.

- Free breast and cervical cancer screenings will be
offered May 4 from 1-4 p.m. at the Athens County Department of
Human Services office in Chauncey. The screenings are made
possible by the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine's
mobile health unit. Call 740-593-2432 or 1-800-844-2654 to
schedule an appointment.
