honors & awards: Student Recognized for Leadership in Community Service

Ohio University junior Meghan Gilkey is one of three Ohio students selected for the Ohio Campus Compact 1999 Charles J. Ping Student Community Service Award. A hearing and speech sciences major from Chagrin Falls, Gilkey is Circle K president and Alpha Phi Omega vice president for service.

Named for Charles J. Ping, president emeritus of Ohio University, the award is given annually and is designed to recognize and honor undergraduate students' outstanding leadership and contributions to their campus and community. Candidates are nominated by the president of their college or university and are expected to meet community support and service criteria.
