Ohio
University Names Vice President For Research
John "Jack" Bantle, associate dean for research in the College of
Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University, has been named
vice president for
research at Ohio University. He will begin his position Sept.
1.
Bantle's responsibilities will include providing leadership for
advancing and promoting the university's mission in a broad range of
research activities. He also will develop and manage externally
sponsored research and technology commercialization.
Since 1991, Bantle has served as associate dean for research in
the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University in
Stillwater, Okla. He also is a regents professor in the university's
Department of Zoology. He received his bachelor's and master's
degrees in biology at Eastern Michigan University, his Ph.D. in
zoology and developmental biology at Ohio State University and was a
postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado Medical School.

on April 20. The four speakers are Associate Professor Sung Ho
Kim, Professor Harold Molineu, Assistant Professor Patricia
Weitsman, and Associate Professor David Williams.
- Free childhood immunizations will be offered by the
mobile health unit of the Ohio
University College of Osteopathic Medicine according to the
following schedule: April 20, from 3 to 5 p.m., Ramada Inn in
Nelsonville; and April 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mac-N-Bec's in
Albany. Free immunizations also will be provided at area
kindergarten registrations as follows: Morrison, today, 8 to 11
a.m.; Chauncey, April 19, from 12:45 to 5 p.m.; Trimble, April 22,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; The Plains, April 26, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;
and Coolville, April 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information,
