breaking news: Ohio Names Women's Basketball Head Coach

photo of Lynn BriaOhio University Director of Athletics, Thomas Boeh, announced today that Lynn Bria has been hired as the school's eighth Head Women's Basketball Coach. Bria, a Charleston, WV, native, comes to Ohio from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. During her time there, she guided the Golden Knights to the 1999 NCAA Tournament and compiled a 50-36 record, becoming the second-winningest women's basketball coach in UCF history.

At a press conference, Bria described herself as a coach who is "committed to hard work, demanding, and fair." She said she promises her players that they will have every opportunity to complete their degree, and that they will leave her program as "the best player they could possibly be."

No announcement was made about her assistant coaching staff, although the university is allowing her the opportunity to bring her staff from UCF if she so desires. Bria replaces Marsha Reall, who served as Ohio's head coach for the past nine seasons.
