Ohio University Announces Dates for Homecoming and Parents Weekends

The 2000 dates for two of Ohio University's most popular fall weekends, Parents Weekend and Homecoming Weekend, were announced today by Interim Dean of Students Terry Hogan and Executive Director of Alumni Relations Ralph Amos.

Parents Weekend is Sept. 22-24 and features a football game with Akron University Saturday, Sept. 23.

Homecoming Weekend is Oct. 20-22 with the football team playing Central Michigan Saturday, Oct. 21.

"Parents Weekend and Homecoming are events that are fun for students and the entire university community, but their importance goes beyond having a good time," Hogan said. "We are pleased to be able to work cooperatively with the athletic and alumni relations departments, the local convention and visitors bureau and the local lodging association to produce a series of special weekends that offer something for everyone."

Other special weekends this academic year include First-year Parents Weekend, Feb. 25-27, featuring a basketball game with Kent State University Saturday, Feb. 26; and Moms Weekend, May 5-7.

Each of the weekends includes events planned by university departments, student organizations and community groups.
