SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION PROVIDED FOR THE 1804 FUND AWARDS

Contact: Jack Bantle, Vice President for Research; Patricia Richard, Dean, University College

Reminder: Preliminary discussions must take place by March 15. Proposals must be submitted to the Dean of University College, Chubb Hall 140, or Vice President for Research, RTEC 120 by April 15.

We want to provide you with supplemental information about the 1804 Fund Call for Proposals distributed in December. Projects with the following characteristics will receive special consideration.

In order to most effectively enhance undergraduate learning through 1804 Fund awards, preferences will be given to proposals that draw upon the expertise of the Project for Curricular Innovation, a collaborative effort of the Center for Innovations in Technology for Learning (CITL), the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and the Writing Across the Curriculum program (WAC).

Faculty, departments, and schools may be invited by the Project to participate in specific curricular innovations or they may contact CITL, CTE, and WAC with ideas for proposals to employ, for example, technology, collaborative learning, service learning, and/or writing to foster student engagement and learning.

Proposals that provide opportunities for undergraduates to engage directly in research and creative projects are especially sought.

Preferences will be given for projects that culminate in a proposal for outside funding.

Proposers may request up to three years of funding. A maximum of one-third of the 1804 Fund dollars will be encumbered for out-years.
