ABLE Celebrates Family
Literacy
With
this month being National Family Literacy
Month, the ABLE Resource Center is
encouraging Athens County residents to
read to their children by taking the
"Twenty Minute Reading Challenge." The
ABLE Resource Center is housed in Ohio
University's College of Education.
The
ABLE Resource Center is planning family
literacy activities all month throughout
Athens County, to recognize November as
National Family Literacy Month. Nov. 1
kicked off the activities with a faculty
luncheon. Julie Barnhart-Sparks, the
America Reads Coordinator for the ABLE
Resource Center, discussed the importance
of family literacy and summarized the
resource center's upcoming
intentions.
Presentations
for families are also taking place. One is
scheduled for today at the Nelsonville
Library, and the last one will be held
November 18 at the Athens County ABLE Lab
in Chauncey.
All
presentations are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and
are free and open to the public.
