Brown to Speak on the Global Communication Marketplace

Richard H. Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Electronic Data Systems Inc., will speak on "Electronic Commerce and the Global Market" at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in Nelson Commons on Ohio University's Athens campus.

Brown in January was named CEO of EDS, a $15 billion information and technology company founded by Ross Perot. The company's 110,000 employees in 47 countries specialize in applying a range of ideas and technologies to help business and government clients to improve their economics, products, services and relationships.

Brown, a 1969 graduate of Ohio University, is a former CEO of the London-based Cable and Wireless PLC, former chairman of the board of CompuServe Inc., and a former vice chairman and member of the board of the Chicago-based Ameritech Corporation. Brown was recently appointed to the Advisory Committee on Trade and Policy Negotiations by President Clinton. The committee provides the president with information and advice on measures to maintain and protect the nation's telecommunications resources that support national security and emergency preparedness.

Brown's talk is free and open to the public.
