Brown to Speak on the Global Communication
Marketplace
Richard
H. Brown, chairman and chief executive
officer of Electronic Data Systems Inc.,
will speak on "Electronic Commerce and the
Global Market" at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct.
15, in Nelson Commons on Ohio University's
Athens campus.
Brown
in January was named CEO of EDS, a $15
billion information and technology company
founded by Ross Perot. The company's
110,000 employees in 47 countries
specialize in applying a range of ideas
and technologies to help business and
government clients to improve their
economics, products, services and
relationships.
Brown,
a 1969 graduate of Ohio University, is a
former CEO of the London-based Cable and
Wireless PLC, former chairman of the board
of CompuServe Inc., and a former vice
chairman and member of the board of the
Chicago-based Ameritech Corporation. Brown
was recently appointed to the Advisory
Committee on Trade and Policy Negotiations
by President Clinton. The committee
provides the president with information
and advice on measures to maintain and
protect the nation's telecommunications
resources that support national security
and emergency preparedness.
