Student Organizations Sponsor Red Cross Blood Drive In Honor of Bryce Chesser

The Ohio University Mortar Board Senior National Honor Society and Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity are sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive on February 2 and 3 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the Ohio University Jefferson Hall Library on the East Green.

The blood drive is being organized in honor of Bryce Chesser, a 3-yr-old New Marshfield youth diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, this past June.

Bryce is being treated by oncologists at Children's Hospital in Columbus and has undergone chemotherapy, radiation and four surgeries.

According to Lindsay Levenson, Campus Blood Drive Coordinator and President of the Mortar Board Senior National Honor Society, the two-day blood drive is targeting students, faculty and staff with a goal of 170 pints. Appointments are required for this blood drive.

*The Gilham Frank VFW Auxiliary #8804 will sponsor a separate blood drive in honor of Bryce Chesser for the New Marshfield community on Saturday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Waterloo Community Center, 3991 Old St. Route 56. To schedule an appointment, call 664-6132 or 664-4671.
