MUSEUM ANNOUNCES NATIVE AMERICAN JEWELRY
SALE
ATHENS,
Ohio -- On Tuesday, November 30 through December 4, the
Friends of the Kennedy will sponsor a show and sale of fine,
hand-crafted Native American jewelry. Featuring Glenn and
Opal Paquin, Laguna-Zuni silver artisans, the sale will also
include traditional and contemporary Navajo and Zuni
jewelry. Hours for the sale are: noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Friday; Thursday noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds are used to support the Kennedy
Museum of Art.
The new
Education Gallery, which opened in late October, is a
permanent exhibit housing selections from the Native
American jewelry and weavings as an ongoing project in
conjunction with local schools which provides a model for
curriculum based programming at the museum. The initial
phase of the partnership is funded in part by the Martha
Holden Jennings Foundation.
Currently
on exhibit through February 6, 2000, are "Painters Who Make
Prints" and "Selections from the Contemporary Print
