OFFICE OF
CONTINUING EDUCATION OFFERS A NEW WAY TO LEARN COMPUTER
SKILLS
ATHENS,
Ohio -- Ohio University Continuing Education is providing
self-paced computer training available to anyone who has
access to the Internet.
Dynamic
Interactive Software Courses, DISC, is a compilation of over
200 computer training courses available to any age and skill
level through the Internet at a low cost. These courses are
great for both gaining skills in new software programs and
improving skills and effectiveness with software already in
use.
Just a few
of the courses offered are Windows '98, Netscape and
Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office '97, JAVA, PowerBuilder,
HTML, Quicken '98, Windows NT Workstation 4.0, C and
C++.
There are
numerous benefits to DISC program. First, finding time for
computer training is much easier. The programs are available
24 hours a day from any computer with Internet access. That
means an employee can be trained in new software without
having to leave the office, parents can train at home
without having to organize child care, and students can
learn skills after their homework is finished. Second, the
course is tailored to the user's needs and skill level. Each
course starts with a skill assessment test that helps cue
the user in to his/her strongest and weakest subjects. The
person enrolled can use the software and refer to DISC like
a tutorial. It is self-paced instruction where the user
learns as much or as little as he/she desires.
Other
benefits of the Continuing Education DISC program include
the ability to start a course at one location and continue
it at another. Automatic bookmarks are placed at the exact
page the user is on before sign-out. Users can change
locations without losing their place in the course. They can
refer back to training software even after the course is
complete. All courses are compatible with Windows 3.0 or
better.
The DISC
program costs $99/six months or $149/full year of unlimited
access. For package information, contact Continuing
Education at (740)593-9925.
