GOVERNOR TAFT ANNOUNCES AN APPOINTMENT TO THE OHIO UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Governor Bob Taft announced the appointment of R. Gregory Browning, Ph.D. to the Ohio University Board of Trustees on Friday, September 17.

Browning, who lives in Worthington, will serve on the Board through May 13, 2007. He replaces Jacqui Romer-Sensky, from Columbus, who resigned.

Browning, an Ohio University graduate, is the president of Capital Partners, an Ohio-based public policy and management consulting firm. From 1991 to 1998, Dr. Browning served as the director of the Ohio Office of Budget and Management, managing a biennial budget of more than $70 billion. From 1993 to 1998, he also served as senior policy advisor to then-governor George V. Voinovich.

The University Board of Trustees have the authority to hire, set compensation of, and remove the President and such number of professors, teachers and other employees as may be deemed necessary by the board. The board shall do all things necessary to insure the university is properly maintained and operates on a successful and continuous basis. Members are compensated for expenses only.
