Geographers are interested in the spatial patterns observed on earth. Bridging the natural and social sciences, Geography is the interdisciplinary study of environments, and how people interact with the environment. As such, Geography is an integral part of a university education, and the Department of Geography at Ohio University offers a wide range of both introductory and advanced courses.
Our faculty are productive scholars and excellent teachers committed to their students. Teaching and research interests include environment and society, globalization and development, landforms, ecological and atmospheric systems, and geospatial techniques such as GIS and remote sensing. The Department of Geography offers a number of undergraduate major tracks, minors, and certificate programs, as well as the opportunity to join several student groups. Our Masters students benefit from attentive advising and mentorship. Graduates of our program are prepared to meet the challenges of a professional career or the pursuit of an advanced degree.
